May 7, 2017: L.A. Choral Lab- SH’MA

I will be singing with the L.A. Choral Lab in its third season closer with a program of music with texts and themes arising from the Jewish tradition. SH’MA is the Hebrew word for “hear” or “listen.” This concert invites you to listen with your ears and your heart as these ancient texts and themes find expression in a modern choral medium. You’ll hear ancient nigguns and Sephardic folk songs; you’ll hear works in Hebrew, English, Ladino, and Estonian; you’ll hear the Psalms of David in modern arrangements; and you’ll hear a brand-new arrangement of Max Janowski’s Avinu Malkeinu for SATB choir, drummers, and oud by L.A. Choral Lab member and two-time Grammy award winner Ben Bram. I also arranged a choral parts for a song by guest artist Yuval Ron.
